About Me
I am a therapeutically trained Social Worker who specialises in sleep coaching, promoting emotional wellbeing in children and parent/carer support. I qualified as a Social Worker in 2011 and have over 20 years' experience working with children and families.
A lot of my work has focused on supporting children’s psychological wellbeing, helping children who have experienced abuse, trauma and instability in their early lives. I have worked with adoption, fostering and special guardianship teams across the UK; providing specialist assessments, delivering a range of individual and group therapeutic interventions, courses and resources.
I also have a particular interest in supporting LGBTQ+ carers and young people, having completed my PhD research in this area. I had my little girl Holly in the middle of the first lockdown in 2020 and set up a parent-led community group for babies, tots, and their parents/carers.

My WorkAs a therapeutic practitioner, I use an integrative approach to create bespoke support packages for each child and family I support. I am a qualified children's Yoga and Mindfulness instructor, Forest Schools Leader and Sleep Coach. I am trained in Diadic Developmental Psychotherapy and have been using this approach in my practice since 2015. I am supervised by a DDP consultant through DDP Network and co-facilitate a DDP Special Interest Group in the North East.
I am passionate about nurturing child and family emotional wellbeing and enjoy teaching, research and therapeutic practice in these areas. Since undertaking therapeutic support and project coordination roles for looked after children in Romania and Bulgaria from 2006, I have developed specialist knowledge about attachment, trauma and therapeutic care. To support my work with nonverbal children and adults with ASD and learning disabilities, I trained as an Intensive Interaction practitioner and trainer. Currently I work part-time as a Senior Lecturer at Teesside University, teaching on Social Work and Trauma Informed Practice undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. As a feminist researcher, I am interested in equality, diversity and inclusion within health and social care services. |
